Build Log

The build, as it stands.

Where we are, what is running today, and how the pieces fit. This page is for the people who want to see the machine.

Current phase: Initial Human to Human Verification

Every verified business on Weird Wire is verified by a person, with the owner, one at a time. The goal for this phase is 1,000 businesses verified on platform.

3,000+businesses indexed
3focus cities for verification: Georgetown, Round Rock, Pflugerville
1,000verified businesses is the goal

What is running today

The index
Every locally owned business's website in the area, opened and read in full, kept on disk, and re-read when it changes. Google presence refreshed on a 30-day cycle. Nothing sampled.
The study
A fixed sheet of factors, measured across the whole index in dated phases. Every number traceable to the evidence it came from.
The directory
One listing per locally owned business, by city and by trade, with a search that understands a sentence. Zero AI at runtime on the live site.
The Machine Readable Profile
Each verified listing carries structured data behind the page, a matched list of the business's Google listing, reviews, website, and socials, plus the facts confirmed with the owner.
Verification
Two doors, and only two. Will begins it in the room, or the owner submits a review from home. Nothing changes publicly until a person acts.
The newsletters and the calendar
City editions, events, and Street Eats. Every piece names local businesses with their facts attached, in a form a machine reads.

How the pieces fit

Whether a verified business gets recommended in the AI answers feeds back into the study. That is what this phase is testing.

The log

  1. The business site goes up. business.weirdwireatx.com: the hub for owners, built from the study and the three motions.
  2. Phase one measured. 3,139 businesses across the wider Austin area, from Georgetown to Hutto. Only 3% can be seen, understood, and recommended by the AI.
  3. The polite ask. One courteous visit per website to collect the files meant for machines: the robots rules, the sitemap, and the rest, and we keep them whole, on disk.
  4. Verification rebuilt. It now has two doors, walk-in or self-serve, and one pipeline. Search was rebuilt to understand a sentence, with zero AI at runtime.
  5. The prospecting engine. Scores only complete records. Incomplete ones are listed with the missing piece named, never scored on partial evidence.
  6. Local Favorite becomes earned. It takes a 4.6 star rating, 25 or more reviews, and a complete listing, and it cannot be bought.
